We held a special service here at school on Friday 22nd March in memory of those killed in the mosque attacks in Christchurch. Children and staff joined hands in a circle and we sang our national anthem. Pr Ben then prayed for our country, and then we observed 2 minutes silence with the rest of New Zealand. At Friday morning's school assembly the children shared what they had made to show support to the families in Christchurch.

As part of our togetherness learning, we decided to show our support to our whanau in Christchurch by being a part of The Paper Doll Project initiated by Bay of Plenty siblings, Daniel and Emily. “We want to create a long, long line of paper dolls that show kids of all different cultures, together holding hands,” says Emily, aged eight. We are so pleased we can be a part of this awesome project, alongside so many other students in New Zealand! Kia kaha Christchurch. We stand with you.

Room 2 students have been learning about what togetherness and connectedness means. We believe that being kind, being friendly, showing compassion and praising Jesus through prayer and song are some of the ways we can stay connected to God and to each other.

Room 4 took part in the Get NZ Writing programme that was put on by School Kit. During the past few weeks, we were able to extend our writing by exploring the different figurative languages that may be involved in poetry. When we completed our poems, they were then sent off to the buddy class in Nelson!
